SKF RACING Unit was established in 2001 to develop SKF’s business in the motorsport industry. We are working in all segments of the Motorsport industry, from Formula 1 to Formula E. SKF is also the official Technical Partner of Scuderia Ferrari since 1947: the longest partnership ever in the history of Formula 1.
About the role
Are you motivated by motorsports and driven by collaboration, communication, and customer focus?
We are looking for a creative and forward-thinking Application Engineer who thrives in an interactive environment and enjoys working closely with both customers and sales teams. In our small and agile team covering all two- and four-wheel racing segments, you’ll oversee the full technical process, from simulations and calculations to final performance analysis, and use data to guide decisions and build strong relationships. Your ability to understand customer needs, connect across teams, and contribute to sustainable mobility solutions will be key to enhancing customer satisfaction.
What you can expect in the role

Provide technical support to Formula 1 and other Racing Motorsport customers (Formula E, Nascar, WEC, Moto GP, etc.), with an emphasis on understanding customer needs and cultivating long-term relationships

Perform engineering calculations using proprietary tools and software, and translate results into clear, actionable insights for both customers and internal teams.

Participate in design reviews and performance studies, contributing with technical skill and a collaborative, customer-oriented approach

Conduct bearing inspections after races and tests, collaboratively draw conclusions that support product development and customer performance

Share knowledge across the global Racing team, strategically building networks and collaboration between engineering, sales, and customer functions

Join customer visits with Account Managers, acting as a trusted technical advisor and using data to guide decisions and cultivate partnerships
Requirements

A degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent.

Have been working as an Application Engineer for a few years; have a good understanding of engineering principles, bearings, and rotating systems, and am used to working with engineering calculations. Knowledge of seals and lubrication is an advantage.

Experience working with simulation tools and engineering software.

Fluency in English, both verbal and written (other language skills are considered a plus).

Open to travel, if needed, for specific activities.

Participation in student racing teams (FORMULA SAE / Shell ECO Marathon) is considered as a plus.

Some additional information
This position can be in any main Automotive site in EMEA. Preferred sites are Airasca, Schweinfurt, Saint-Cyr or Gothenburg. You will report to Emiliano Rosso, who is located in Airasca, Italy.
