About the Role
SKF's Machine Support Services team delivers specialised mechanical and diagnostic services for rotating equipment within the marine and offshore industries worldwide.
We support customers with the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis of propulsion systems, shaft lines, bearings, seals and driveline components aboard a wide variety of vessels, including luxury yachts, inland waterway vessels, offshore support vessels, workboats and large container ships.
As an Alignment & Vibration Engineer, you will travel internationally to customer locations and act as SKF's technical representative on site. You will work on critical propulsion and rotating equipment systems, helping customers maintain operational reliability and minimise downtime.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect and maintain propulsion and rotating equipment components.
- Perform machine alignment, chocking, grouting and commissioning activities.
- Assemble and disassemble bearings, seals, couplings and related driveline components.
- Perform condition monitoring and diagnostic activities, including:
- Laser alignment measurements
- Vibration analysis
- 3D metrology measurements
- Corrective actions and technical recommendations
- Support and assist with in-situ machining activities on bearing seats and bearing housings.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support root-cause failure investigations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and service documentation.
- Serve as SKF's technical representative during customer assignments.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and customer service.
What We're Looking For
- A vocational or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
- Equivalent technical experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
- Sound knowledge of rotating equipment, mechanical maintenance and engineering practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures and service documentation.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Additional languages are an advantage but not essential.
- Willingness to travel internationally for extended periods when required.
- Valid driving licence.
- Previous experience within the marine, offshore, shipbuilding, power generation or heavy industrial sectors would be advantageous.
- Experience as a Marine Engineer, Service Technician, Mechanical Technician or Shipyard Engineer is highly valued.
- Offshore, safety or industry-recognised certifications are advantageous.
