JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Engineer/Lead Engineer Product Design
Reports To: Head Engineering- CV and Tractors
Role Type: Individual Contribution
Location: Bangalore
Role Purpose:
Carry out all Engineering activities related to design and development of products for commercial vehicle and tractor applications to achieve exceptional results through – personal effectiveness, partnering with others & building customer loyalty, fulfilling their needs in an efficient & effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Should have knowledge of Basic Modeling, Assembly and Detailing in Pro/Engineer WF4 / Creo 2.0;
- Should be able to create parametric models with built in design intents- design functionality; assembly method; reusability, Parent child relations;
- Knowledge on Geometric Product Specification (GPS);
- Awareness in Reverse Engineering Methodologies;
- Knowledge on Basics/importance of tolerance stack-up analysis;
- Knowledge on PDM/PLM tool – Windchill (PDM Link);
- Basic understanding of measurement principles, Metrology & Metallurgy aspects;
- Knowledge on Engineering Materials and their applications
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes & machining processes;
- Knowledge in Engineering Change Management (ECM) process;
- Basic knowledge in DFM & DFA;
- Basic awareness of bearings and its engineering principle.
- Understanding of invention disclosure & patenting process;
- Awareness of Quality Management System: ISO 9001 & ISO/TS 16949; and,
- Basic understanding of Project Management & its value to the business processes.
- Key Responsibilities (Products & Process):
- To carry out engineering tasks to support Design offices and Business Units;
- Estimate and develop time plan for engineering activities;
- Create/Modify 3D model & drawings (Proposal & Manufacturing) based on the stakeholder requirements;
- To support Engineering change request processing;
- To make use of the design process complying with the Group and Product Line design rules;
- To work according to the product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process established by respective Product lines;
- To support on Windchill activities, like uploading of CAD data, adding attributes values, creation of WT parts, etc.,
- To create and maintain design tools for systematic design of bearing sizes;
- To support Reverse Engineering (RE) Activities compliance to RE Process;
- To build and document knowledge between technical specification and product function;
- Prepare Project Proposals;
- Actively participate in reviews , pulse meetings and publish minutes of meeting;
- Pro-actively communicate customer issues and complaints to manager
- To actively participate in idea jamming sessions & Technical paper presentation forums;
- Use various idea generation techniques (Brainstorming, Crowd sourcing, Gordon Techniques, etc.) to generate and foster innovation culture.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering stream;
- 5-10 Years of relevant functional work experience;
- Being an individual contributor, the position holder is an epitome of “Doing things correctly” & “Right from me”;
- Highly motivated & self initiator with good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities;
