Head of Brand Protection India, SKF Automotive

 

Job Title: Head of Brand Protection India

Reports to: Head of Brand Protection & Corporate Security

Location:   Pune/Bangalore

Role Type: Individual Contributor

 

Introduction of the role:

 

The NewCo brand will be a critical enabler of business success as we transition into a standalone company. Protecting the brand from counterfeits and misuse is crucial for building trust, driving growth, and customer safety. To ensure strong protection, we are establishing a dedicated Brand Protection team in India. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a global organization, gain international exposure, and make a real impact in the automotive industry. You will play a key role in ensuring product authenticity and protecting our customers’ trust. The initial focus will be in India and neighboring countries, with potential expansion to other regions.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the global Brand Protection team to develop strategies aligned with business objectives and drive initiatives to achieve results.
  • Work closely with Vehicle Aftermarket (VA) and local communication teams to create and maintain content that raises awareness about counterfeit risks and guides customers to genuine products.
  • Promote and support the use of an equivalent of the SKF Authenticate app to help customers verify product authenticity and identify counterfeiters.
  • Lead and manage investigations into suspected counterfeit activities.
  • Participate in legal actions against producers and sellers of counterfeit products.
  • Interact with law enforcement authorities (e.g. police and customs)
  • Monitor suspicious online activities using advanced AI-based tools.
  • Conduct training sessions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Launch and maintain the Brand Protection Playbook.
  • When needed, support brand protection activities in other countries outside India.

 

Requirements

  • University degree preferably within engineering and good to have MBE degree.
  • Very good understanding of the Vehicle Aftermarket business model for distribution sales.
  • Excellent communicator with highly developed rhetorical skills.
  • Proven quick learner with hands-on attitude
  • Self-motivated team player with high ethical standards.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and demonstrate integrity.
  • Flexible to handle urgent tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
