Key Purpose of the Job:

Carry out all Engineering activities for design of Products within the portfolio to achieve exceptional results through – personal effectiveness, partnering with others & building customer loyalty, fulfilling their needs in an efficient & effective manner.
Profile of the Job Holder:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Automobile engineering stream.
- 6-9 Years of relevant functional work experience.
- Experience in Product Design/ Engineering is preferable.
- Being an individual contributor, the position holder is an epitome of “Doing things correctly” & “Right from me”.
- Highly motivated & self-initiator with good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Skill & Knowledge Profile:
- Should be proficient in advanced Modeling, assembly and detailing in PTC Creo.
- Ensure robust design intent, GD&T application, and modelling best practices.
- Integrate DFM principles into product design to ensure efficient, scalable, and cost-effective production. Collaborate with manufacturing & supplier teams to optimize machining, forging, stamping, molding, and assembly processes.
- Knowledge on incorporating manufacturing process methodology in Pro/Engineer
- Expertise in performing GD&T verification, and tolerancing analysis.
- Ability to perform advanced tolerance stack up analysis.
- Develop CAD automation tools such as parametric models, macros, templates, and design configurators.
- Apply QMS requirements such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and 8D techniques.
- Ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to customer-specific standards.
- Apply deep knowledge of bearing designs, materials, tribology, lubrication, and performance characteristics. Provide technical support for bearing applications used in automotive wheel ends.
- Experience in Reverse Engineering Methodologies.
- Design, Review, Maintain, and update Product specifications & documentation in PLM.
- Knowledge in precision, accuracy, reliability & traceability.
- Knowledge and understanding in Metrology & Metallurgy aspects.
- Experience in application of measurement principles for manufacturing & other processes.
- Proficiency in manufacturing & machining processes.
- Lead Engineering Change Requests, root-cause analysis and documentation updates. Ensure change traceability, risk assessment, and structured implementation.
- Proficient in selection of materials for application / design requirements based on their behavior properties.
- Proficiency in DFM/A design guidelines and application.
- Proficiency in cost trade-off analysis, value engineering, and cost breakdown studies.
- Knowledge in product lines of SKF and their applications.
- Guiding Patenting criteria & to manage the Intellectual Property (IP) generation of concept development.
- Have good knowledge on Simulation – Working knowledge on SKF Bearing simulator.
- Proficient in Quality Management Systems (QMS) with hands-on experience in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance and deployment.
- Proficiency in six sigma methodologies (DMAIC, DFSS, etc.) and tools
- Proficiency in Project Management & its value to the business processes.
Key Responsibilities (Products & Process):
Product Engineering Activities: 50%
- Review and validate project proposal (PP) and change requests of the projects.
- Validate feasibility study & developed time plan for engineering activities.
- Create/Modify 3D model & drawings (Proposal & Manufacturing) based on the stakeholder requirements.
- CAD modeling issues resolution & Support on creation of best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate GD&T in product design (In Proposal, Manufacturing drawings, etc.).
- To create Generic models of bearings and use the same to generate bearing variants.
- Is accountable for the quality of the services delivered according to the related working procedures, ensuring zero defect objectives and customer satisfaction.
- To work & manage according to the product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process established by respective Product lines.
- To resolve issues related to Windchill (PDM) activities, during uploading of CAD data, adding attributes values, creation of WT parts, etc., & also plays a role of Windchill Library manager, as needed.
- Coordinate & have regular Interaction with internal & External suppliers for Reverse Engineering activities.
- To build knowledge & manage between product function and corresponding specification.
- Develop, Define & Operate a well-defined process in accordance with SKF Project & Quality Management process.
- Establish and maintain technical collaboration with the Design offices & Business Units.
- Develop and maintain network within the SKF engineering community for knowledge sharing, potential synergies and best practices.
- Identify & assess project execution risks & dependencies. Also develop and maintain Risk register for project activities.
- Undertake other duties reasonably required by the Team Leader to ensure the operational success of the Portfolio (module) including participating in review meetings with stakeholders and assuming the duties of the review meetings in the absence of Team Leader in such review meetings.
- Accountable for process compliance of the project.
- Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan.
- Is accountable for the quality of the services delivered according to the related working procedures, ensuring zero defect objectives and customer satisfaction; and,
- Analyze and Implement Quality Improvement activities in the team.
Process Adherence: 20%
- Prepare Project Proposals and support manager in reviewing junior engineers project proposals.
- Take ownership of the full or part of the quality process and participate in DFMEA development.
- Report task status to mentor/manager/stakeholder as per defined cycle.
- Escalate bottlenecks to mentor/manager/stakeholder as and when needed.
- Follow Change Management Process guidelines.
- Actively participates in reviews, pulse meetings and publish minutes of meeting.
- Custodian of Lessons Learned, Best Practices, Risk Registers. Ensure they are updated and re-used in future related projects; and,
- Perform causal analysis every quarter to sensitize team on the project historic data and re-use the same across the team.
Reviews & Reporting: 5%
- Monitor / Review / Analyze / Report performance (schedule, cost and quality) of the projects to Internal / External stakeholders.
- Periodic review of project activities to ensure compliance with Quality and Process requirements.
- Manage review and pulse meetings with internal & External stakeholders to ensure timely escalations and feedback; and,
- Develop and Manage Project Documentation Repository (Module Leader).
Continuous Improvement Initiatives: 10%
- Identify, plan, implement & monitor improvement actions to improve productivity & quality.
- Develop and manage standards, tools & procedures to track KPI deviations, Risk, Change requirements & Information management of the projects.
- To follow management instructions and procedures to report Safety Health and Environment (SHE) risks and SHE related incidents; to follow quality specifications and requirements, and identify quality risks and opportunities for improvement; and,
Competency Development: 5%
- Conduct self-appraisal to identify competency gaps.
- Identify & propose competency development areas for the team.
- Identify & suggest technical training requirements, including conducting need analysis, developing curriculum and materials and determining the program efficiency & effectiveness.
- Show willingness and self-drive to upgrade technical competency on regular basis.
- Adherent to competency development plan drawn out in consultation with team leader.
- Active participation in knowledge sharing sessions and group learning sessions.
- Support and coach the team on his/her functional expertise area; and,
- Mentor juniors on certain competencies and contribute to their individual development.

- Lead idea generation campaigns (Brainstorming, Crowdsourcing, Gordon Techniques, etc) to generate and foster innovation culture.

Qualification –
- B.E/B.Tech(Preferred) or M.E/M.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Automobile or Industrial Engineering.
