Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)- Automotive Business
We are in the process of identifying a suitable candidate for the role of Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical). This role will be based in Bangalore and will report to the Factory Maintenance Manager.
Ensure high availability, reliability, and efficiency of production machinery and plant utilities through robust maintenance practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Key responsibilities (or What you can expect in the role)
Maintenance & Reliability:
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Improve MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and execute downtime reduction strategies with measurable improvement trends.
- Lead troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, and utility systems.
Utilities & Infrastructure Management:
Oversee operation and maintenance of:
- Air compressor systems
- Chiller plants
- DG sets and power systems
- Filtration and water treatment systems
Plan and execute annual shutdowns and critical maintenance schedules.
Continuous Improvement & TPM:
- Drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives across plant operations.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing practices including 5S, Kaizen, and Maintenance Excellence.
- Identify and execute cost-saving and energy efficiency projects.
Quality, Compliance & EHS
Ensure compliance with:
IATF 16949\ ISO 14001 ISO 45001 \ ISO 18001\ ISO 50001 (Energy Management)
- Conduct and support EHS internal audits and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Spares & Vendor Management:
- Manage spare parts inventory with focus on optimization and availability.
- Develop vendors and identify alternate sourcing options to reduce costs.
Systems & Process Management:
- Utilize CMMS systems (SAP / API / equivalent) for:
- Maintenance planning
- Work order management
- Data tracking and reporting
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in downtime (D-Time)
- Improvement in MTTR & MTBF
- Machine reliability index
- Maintenance cost optimization
- Energy savings and efficiency improvements
Requirements (or We expect you to have/be)
- Qualification: BE / Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- Experience: Minimum 5 years, preferably in machine tool maintenance / manufacturing industry
