JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Senior CAE Software Architect
Reports To: Manager Shared Services and Bearing Digital
Role Type: Individual Contributor
Location: Bangalore
Role Purpose:
SKF is on the lookout for a highly skilled and motivated Senior CAE Software Architect to become an integral part of our Digital Products Engineering Team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing CAE simulation software in SKF portfolio (SimPro, Beast and advanced modules). You will oversee all system and software architectural decisions and approaches from conception to solution delivery. You will join a team of talented developers, provide technical guidance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
Key Responsibilities:

- Analyse existing systems and propose software architecture improvements, paying attention to simplicity, scalability and extensibility.
- Work with the Software Development Manager to define a vision of technical excellence for software architecture, tools and processes
- To develop, test and maintain SKF engineering software within the Digital Products Engineering portfolio.
- Implement correct, high-performance, and maintainable C++ code and work to reduce system complexity, ensuring the robustness and efficiency of the core system
- Ensure best practices for software design security, versioning, maintainability, coding standards are integrated through the product life-cycle.
- Provide a guiding voice in the discussions regarding future advancements in the software
- To support in modularization and creation of centralized assets which can be deployed as rich clients or through cloud-based solutions with software as a service
- Actively participate in product discovery together with Designers and Product Owner/Product Manager
- Support the team and mentor junior developers, fostering their growth and development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA, to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain code quality and performance.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in CAE software development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
Candidate’s Profile:
-
- At least 12 years experience as a CAE software developer/Architect or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in C++, Qt Framework, Python and modern development practices.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX
- Proficiency with CAE software such as HyperMesh, Ansys
- Experience working with high performance computing solutions
- Strong understanding of development of products that can connect CAD and CAE systems with seamless data exchange
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
- Experience using Azure DevOps, CircleCI or similar tools for project management and collaboration.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire junior developers.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is a plus.
- Experience with versioning in Azure devops, CI/CD and GitHub.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
