Engineering Technician

SKF UK Ltd, Clevedon

 

An opportunity has arisen within SKF (UK) LTD Aerospace Division, Clevedon, for an Engineering Technician with NC Programming experience. This role will report to the Senior Engineering Team Leader, and is expected to support production, new product and new processes via standard and CAD-CAM driven programs to support the business goals and objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Create, modify, and improve NC programs for existing and new machinery.
  • Effectively manage the control and standardisation of NC programs, methods and tooling
  • Support implementation of new CNC equipment
  • Support production output by resolving technical deviations.
  • Have a direct impact on improving SLR and efficiency by improving manufacturing processes.
  • Support the implementation of MES and Industry 4.0 activities.
  • Support NPI activities – validating new processes.
  • Generating Capability studies and support six sigma initiatives.
  • Provide out of hours support on occasion to help Production achieve its goals.
  • Support standardisation and training with good documentation
  • Updating of SAP layouts according to work packages
  • Co-ordinate and contribute to short-term projects.
  • Be responsible for own health and safety and that of others.

 

 

Skills and Experience

  • CAD modelling and 2D drawings – including parametric-driven models.
  • CAM program creation and management
  • Experience of NC programming for single and multi-functional equipment
  • Strong process knowledge and hands-on experience of either turning, milling and/or grinding.
  • New Product Introduction experience
  • Lead or contributed to projects with successful examples.
  • Project Experience: Experience of leading projects and rolling out
  • Working with international or Customer Specifications

 

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge of SAP/Siemens NX/Fanuc controls, desirable.
  • Working experience and knowledge of parametrically driven CAD models.
  • Interest and experience of 4.0

 

Education and Vocational History

  • Technical Apprenticeship or HNC, with CNC manufacturing experience
  • Lean or 6sigma experience.
  • Driven individual who is a self-starter and can work well as part of a team.
  • Reliable and organised individual
  • COSHH, IOSH exposure/awareness
