Advanced Simulation Software Developer
Digital Products Engineering is responsible for SKF’s portfolio of engineering and simulation software. We work closely with product development, research, application engineering, and customers worldwide to push the boundaries of bearing simulation.
In our Gothenburg-based team, you will contribute to the development of Beast (BEAring Simulation Tool) — SKF’s most advanced simulation platform, used for analysis and prediction of bearing application performance.
Key responsibilities
- Drive the development and verification of new simulation technology
- Work within domains such as multibody dynamics, contact mechanics, tribology, finite element methods, co-simulation, high-performance computing, high-fidelity 3D and surface geometry modelling, and advanced postprocessing
- Collaborate with users and stakeholders to translate needs into technical improvements and effective UI and model building tools
- Engage with product development and application engineering to ensure we deliver measurable impact on product performance, engineering efficiency, and business decisions
- Contribute to the exploration and integration of AI to enhance simulation software capabilities and engineering efficiency
- Contribute to the definition and evolution of simple, efficient, and modern design principles
- Provide advanced technical support in complex customer cases
Requirements
- PhD in mechanical engineering, engineering physics, computer science, mathematics, or similar, or MSc with relevant industry experience
- Experience in developing simulation technology, engineering software, or scientific computing techniques
- Proficiency in programming languages like C++, paired with sound judgment for writing clear, maintainable, and efficient code
- Experience with high-performance computing, contact mechanics and tribology, advanced usage or development of commercial engineering software, or application of AI to support engineering software, are especially meritorious
- Good communication skills and professional fluency in English
