India Head of Procurement & Supply Chain - Automotive Business
The future Automotive business will be a leading automotive supplier for efficient and sustainable rotational systems. Transforming from a business area to a stand-alone business, the team is excited to expand its’ organization. The Automotive business will have a decentralized operating model where teams out in the markets will have full business mandate, and a high degree of accountability.
The headquarters, which will be located in parts of the SKF Solution Factory in Gothenburg, Sweden, will be lean and the headquarter teams will be focused on setting the strategic direction and key backbone processes.
Procurement and Supply chain will play a key role in this new company, and we are currently in the process of identifying a suitable candidate to lead this team in India.
This role will be based in Bangalore/Pune and will report to the Chief Procurement & Supply Chain Officer, with dotted line reporting to Automotive India Managing Director.
Key responsibilities (or What you can expect in the role)
Overview of the Role: The Procurement and Supply Chain Head for the India region plays a critical role in driving the execution of a coordinated End-to-End (E2E) Supply Chain strategy in alignment with global standards, while exercising autonomy over region-specific business and logistics decisions. This individual will work in close collaboration with globally responsible counterparts in Procurement and Supply Chain to ensure seamless integration of strategies and optimized regional supply chain operations.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to implement globally set strategies while contributing to the growth and success of the India business by making independent, high-impact decisions where regional freedom is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Execution of E2E Supply Chain Strategy:
• Drive the implementation of coordinated E2E supply chain strategies for the India region, ensuring efficiency and optimization at all levels.
• Collaborate with global Procurement and Supply Chain stakeholders to achieve alignment with overarching organizational goals.
Global Strategy Compliance:
• Execute globally defined Procurement and Supply Chain strategies, leveraging synergies across international operations.
• Ensure strict adherence to globally set standards and processes within areas connected to global strategies.
Regional Autonomy:
• Take full ownership of region-specific decisions and accountability for business and logistics aspects that are independent of global strategies.
• Develop and implement innovative solutions to address local supply chain challenges and opportunities.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
• Act as the primary liaison between global teams and regional operations, fostering a collaborative working relationship.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and needs to global stakeholders, ensuring mutual understanding and support.
Performance Optimization:
• Monitor and analyze supply chain performance metrics to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
• Establish robust processes and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of procurement and supply chain operations in the region.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
• Identify risks within the India region’s procurement and supply chain processes and develop contingency plans
• Resolve complex regional supply chain issues while ensuring continuity of operations.
Leadership and Team development:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regional team.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration within the India operations
Requirements (or We expect you to have/be)
• Overall exp of 17-20 years with 5-10 years of leadership position experience in Supply Chain, (Encompassing planning, warehousing, logistic and procurement )
• Communication skills written and verbally: will need to be comfortable presenting to and working with to senior executives.
• Masters degree in either a technical or business field, preferred not mandatory.
• Mastering tools and technologies that is key for performance management visualization
• Proved experience in global logistics management, preferably in the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of logistics processes, transportation management, and warehouse optimization.
• Strong knowledge of international trade regulations and customs requirements.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful logistics strategies.
• Proficiency in logistics software and tools
