Non-Destructive Test Technology Expert – Automotive Business
Automotive is all about bold innovation, execution with speed and outstanding quality. Bring your passion for new technologies and experience in non-destructive test, and you will be part of the core technical team for our new automotive ventures.
In this highly technical role, you will be a key team member, overcoming complex technical challenges to guarantee high product quality and propose innovative ways of analyzing without destruction. You will be the reference and owner of non-destructive test knowledge, interacting globally with colleagues, customers, and industry experts from universities to suppliers. This pivotal role will require a comprehensive knowledge of the diverse technologies of testing, contributing to boost innovation momentum and securing cutting-edge technologies.
The Technology Office will be composed of a pool of experts skilled in multiple technology areas essential for a leading automotive bearing supplier: material science (steel and non-metallic materials), tribology, manufacturing processes (such as heat treatment, machining and forming), life prediction, NVH & diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development, specification and standardization of non-destructive test methods from the raw material to finish products including parts from the field
- Owner of non-destructive test knowledge and training, including market, patent and supplier analysis
- Owner of the non-destructive test techno roadmap in collaboration with the laboratories and manufacturing needs
- Guide external collaboration for Coating technologies to solve real-world challenges
- Propose innovative solutions for future business models, especially for circular economy and product assessment for re-use.
- Supporting the purchasing team to select suppliers
- Participate to problem solving group related to testing methodology and implementation
- Developing and maintaining an internal and external network of experts from university, partners, suppliers and customers.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or similar; preferably with focus in Material
- Knowledge within NDT technologies in general, background in ultrasonic and electromagnetic Technolgies will be appreciated
- Solid experience from integrating automatized NDT solutions in a factory environment
- Experience from specifying machines for eddy current testing, both for more advanced solutions for R&D as well as for alternatives for industrialization
- Experience with data analysis and data handling with respect to NDT results and how to convert the results to make process improvements
- Experience with the testing and analysis used to evaluate material performance
- Ability to lead and mentor junior colleagues
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken

Some additional information
This position will be located in Gothenburg (Sweden), on local contract.
One of the other major SKF Automotive sites in EMEA, such as Airasca (Italy), Schweinfurt (Germany) or Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire (France) could also be considered.
You will report to the Technology Office Manager.
