Senior Technologist Bearing Steel and Steel processing (NL-SE-DE)

 

The Research Technology Development (RTD) team is a diverse and multi-cultural group of creative and innovative professionals. Key responsibilities

Be responsible to globally support the SKF organization with technical expertise by applying new or established technologies to enable our business. The function acts as a bridge between Research, Technology Development and Applied technology and work close to the business.

  • Being the focal point to support the business with expertise and to be part of development projects globally cross all product lines in the full value chain.

  • Upon request of the SKF business areas, provide consultancy on technical specifications and solutions and to identify and facilitate the initiation of R&D projects, where needed.

  • Take a leading technology role supporting complex technical Product Development & Engineering, manufacturing, supplier and customer questions.

  • Be part of development projects by acting as expert.

  • Create specifications, guidelines or controlling documents to ensure the specified product performance quality assurance in the full value chain.

  • Member of Material Specification Group (MSG) and work closely with Purchasing.

  • Act as competence hub and collaborate with a global SKF community to spread knowledge within the competence area.

  • Manage the change portfolio according to the Engineering Change process.

  • Accountable for development and management of bearing steel standards.

 

 Requirements

  • Proven expertise within steel and steel manufacturing or steel post processing.

  • At least 10 years relevant working experience within the steel domain.

  • Ability to work across the full value chain with good understanding of the performance impact on the final product.

  • Experience in managing activities, projects, tasks in a complex business environment.

  • Ability to take a leading role and taking difficult decisions as needed.

  • Ability to empower yourself by navigate in a complex organization structure.

  • Fluent in English, both in verbal and written communication across the organization.

  • Experience in writing technical reports.

  • Interest to identify new opportunities by utilizing new technologies (AI).

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly.

Additional information

This position will be located in either Gothenburg/Sweden, Schweinfurt/Germany, Houten/Netherlands.

You will report to the Manager Technology Centre of Expertise.
