 Manager, Business Intelligence & Data Services – Digital Solutions & Analytics

 

Reports to: Director of Business Intelligence 

Location: Lansdale, Pa  

  

The position will be responsible for harnessing our data to find relationships and insights between disparate data sets and presenting data-driven recommendations. You will help empower our company to make data-driven decisions by providing timely data insights through various digital solutions. This is a fast-paced role, requiring flexibility working with several different business units while being exposed to a variety of technologies. This role will require you to have a very fine eye for detail, experience as a data analyst, and deep understanding of data analysis tools, relational databases and tell stories through data.

While we expect the BI Manager to be highly technical and data-oriented, you don’t have to be an expert on everything, but you need to know how to lead BI developers and data stewards to do their best work.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead BI and Data Services team to implement the data architecture and designs that will drive key business decisions
  • Develop, Operationalize and Support technical solutions that support and enhance business critical process.
  • Identify key data across multiple business systems in support of business needs in Sales, Operations, Marketing, Finance, etc
  • Evaluate company's BI technology landscape for efficiency and establish recommendations for improvement
  • Configure and maintain BI application, processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Lead technical solution assessment, technical debt management implementations, and proof of concepts exercises.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to rapidly advance the use of data discovery, metadata management, and lineage and data quality
  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive data model documentation including detailed descriptions of business entities, attributes, and data relationship with Data lineage and Data quality rules/policies.
  • Evaluate, acquire and implement Data Quality tools to define policies and set data quality processes, Create Data Dictionaries, Business Glossary and Data lineage artifacts.
  • Estimate work effort and build a business case for specific enhancements/changes
  • Directly manage and lead full time development resources
  • Responsible for recruitment, coaching, mentoring, providing career guidance and retaining a high function technology team.
  • Makes wise decisions within the context of existing information and goals. Solves root causes of problems vs symptoms. Thinks strategically. Prioritizes work intelligently.
  • Be creative and find new ways of working, creating process efficiencies

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) majors, or 6+ years of equivalent work experience in IT
  • 3+ years’ experience with Qlik/Power BI
  • Experience with a broad spectrum of AWS services
  • 5+ years of strong database experience (SQL Server/Oracle/Sybase/Postgres/Amazon Redshift)
  • 5+ years understanding of data warehousing concepts such as star and snowflake schema, slowly changing dimensions, historical vs incremental loads etc.
  • Experience providing oversight of design specifications for the user interfaces, application code, process flows, data structures, metadata and other components as required.
  • Ability to plan roadmap, prioritize tasks, manage dependencies, and deliver on time.
  • Skilled in acting as lead on the design, develop, implement and documentation of BI visualization & data quality processes
  • Ability to create collaborative relationships with partners, stakeholders and customers while managing expectations, managing concerns and risks, and communicating progress.
  • Professional experience in developing and optimizing data management platforms and processes to deliver business intelligence solutions.
  • Strong understanding of system workflows and how data impacts the business
  • Experience leading design/development of applications solutions as well as independently performing duties associated with the SDLC
  • Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to technical and business topics in a structured easily digestible format
  • Comfortable making informed and detailed recommendations to senior management
  • Demonstrated leadership, particularly in the areas of process improvements and leading change
  • Excellent in identifying process gaps, measuring progress, and balancing development and product efficiency with process overhead.

 

PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED) QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with RESTful API
  • Experience with Mainframe
  • Full stack development experience developing with Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with Agile Methodology preferred.

 

This position resides within the Analytics and Digital Solutions department of SKF Industrial Market US at the Lansdale PA office, reporting to Director Business Intelligence (Analytics & Digital Solutions)
