JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Deputy Manager Machinery Development
Reports To: Deputy General Manager - Manufacturing Engineering
Role Type: Individual Contributor & People Manager
Location: Mysore
Purpose of the role
Drive manpower reduction through automation projects, build new machines for new product development and to develop tooling for new products in existing machineries
Job Responsibilities
· Develop and implement production schedules based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and resource availability.
· Monitor production performance and adjust schedules to meet customer demands and minimize bottlenecks.
· Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure optimal resource utilization.
· Implement lean manufacturing, SKF Production system and continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency.
· Maintain accurate records of production data, MIS, including work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods inventory.
· Strategy Development: Developing a strategic roadmap for automation and digitization initiatives aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. This includes identifying areas for automation, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), and setting targets for process optimization.
· Process Assessment: Evaluating existing business processes, identifying bottlenecks, and analyzing the potential for automation. This involves conducting process mapping exercises, gathering requirements from stakeholders, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
· Automation Implementation: Identifying and implementing appropriate automation technologies, tools, and solutions to streamline processes. This may involve implementing Robotic Process Automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), or other emerging technologies to automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual effort, and enhance operational efficiency.
· Project Management: Managing automation and digitization projects from inception to completion. This involves defining project scopes, creating project plans, allocating resources, tracking progress, managing risks, and ensuring timely delivery of project objectives.
· Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, finance, and business units, to understand their requirements, address their concerns, and ensure successful implementation of automation and digitization initiatives. This may involve conducting training sessions, workshops, and change management activities to facilitate smooth adoption.
· Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitoring the performance and impact of automation and digitization initiatives against defined KPIs. This includes analyzing data, generating reports, and providing insights to stakeholders on the effectiveness
· of implemented solutions. Continuously identifying areas for improvement and making necessary adjustments to optimize processes.
· Assess the machine for health and environment risk and mitigate.
· Interact with other SKF Groups for similar projects/concepts.

· No of manpower reduced by implementing automatic machineries.
· No of new product opportunities are met.
· No of the machines installed and commissioned on time.

· Knowledge in Automatic Machine design

Skills And Knowledge Requirements:
· Must have at least 10+ years’ experience in the field of industrial automation, machine design, pneumatics, PLC, vision system, Robotics & sensors.
Education
· BE in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical and Electronics / Electronics and communication / Instrumentation.
