JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: DM Purchase
Reports To: Factory Manager
Role Type: People Manager role
Location: Mysore
Purpose of the role
Lead and manage direct material purchase activities along with new product development.
Responsibilities-
To manage purchase activities to ensure smooth transactions and availability of raw materials in plant on time with competitive cost and best in quality.
Strategic sourcing & Supplier Development

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers aligned with strategic sourcing goals.
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with SKF standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Day-to-day activities: PO Preparation, Suppliers follow ups, Call of based on production plan / Bill of Material, PO Database updation, Formats for all the reporting done
- Supplier Performance (Delivery & Quality Performance) sent to suppliers on monthly
- Prepare standard Cost for the upcoming year to be given
- Risk management:

- Identify supply chain risks (single source, price volatility, geopolitical risks) and implement mitigation plans.
- Develop backup suppliers and alternate materials to ensure business continuity.
- Manage crisis situations related to shortages, logistics issues or shortages

Procurement Planning & Cost Management

- Analyze material requirements in coordination with Production, Planning, and Engineering teams.
- Ensure timely procurement of direct materials to meet production schedules.
- Drive cost‑reduction initiatives through negotiations, value engineering, alternate sourcing, and market intelligence. Monitor price & commodity markets, and supply risks
Negotiation & Contract Management

- Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, payment terms, and contract conditions.
- Prepare and finalize purchase contracts, supply agreements, and rate contracts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical procurement
- Coordinate with planning/warehouse for material replenishment strategies (Kanban, VMI, JIT, etc.).
- Manage supplier delivery performance, logistics coordination, and lead‑time reduction initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Compliance

- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure materials meet required specifications and standards.
- Manage supplier corrective actions, quality non‑conformities, and preventive actions.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, regulatory, and safety compliance requirements
Data Analysis, Reporting & Systems Management

- Analyze procurement data, spend trends, supplier performance, and cost savings.
- Prepare reports for management on procurement KPIs—delivery, cost reduction, quality metrics, etc.
- Support digitalization and automation of procurement processes.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration

- Coordinate closely with Operations, Finance, R&D, Engineering, Quality, SCM
- Support new product development (NPD) by managing end-to-end development of parts and Products from concept to launch.
- Maintain documentation for product approvals, certifications, and audits.
Competencies:

- Technical knowledge of Automotive components, sheet metal, Rubber and Polymers, packaging, and warehousing
- Supplier development and sourcing experience
- Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Candidate Profile:

- 7-13 years in supplier development, Product development, Purchase and supply chain management.
- BE Mechanical (Mechanical, Industrial, Production or equivalent) (Full time).
