JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:       Production Head

Reports To:  Factory Manager

Role Type:    Manager

Location:      Mysore

 

 

Main Purpose of the Role:

The role plays a crucial role in overseeing the manufacturing activity, responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the production processes, meeting Sales volumes, Quality standards, managing a team of production workers, and driving continuous improvement. Meet Sales volumes with quality & quality by efficiently using the resources available in the Factory. Embrace SKF initiatives like SKF Production System, EHS while doing every activity in the Factory                                                                                                      

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Production  

 

 

  • Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing machine utilization and labor resources. Monitor production progress and make real-time adjustments as needed to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Daily Review/analysis/action plan on Loss in OEE & Delivery value along with the shift engineer.
  • Develop roadmap to achieve business plan targets by reviewing the operation on periodic basis.
  • Oversee the operation of production equipment, ensuring they are running efficiently and safely. Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.

 

Compliance & Safety

  • Compliance for company code of conduct, ethics, policies & statuary & legal requirements Demonstrate & compliance to Environmental, health & Safety standards in shop floor.
  • Demonstrate & compliance to Quality Management systems such as ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, AAR standards & Customer specific requirements in the shop floor in total.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies within the production area. Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Stop production & process in case any major accidents, major unsafe working condition in the work premises or an event of emergency declared due to safety concern.

 

Lean Management

  • Drive Lean principles in manufacturing to achieve Zero Accident, Zero Defect and Delivery in-lined with customer demand efficiently.
  • Improve OEE by reducing losses and creating culture of continuous improvement.

 

People Management

  • Capability building, Upskilling / Reskilling – Training plan design. Nominating team members 
  • Develop a capable and motivated workforce, which would deliver the set objectives. Ensure right staffing in all areas & create right atmosphere for the team by mentoring, coaching & empowering them.
  • Lead and mentor a team of production workers, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among the production team.
  • Nominate employee’s motivation awards wrt safety, quality, productivity sustainable improvement projects & other cultural change initiatives towards business excellence activities in the shop floor.
  • Talent Review & Performance appraisals of team.

 

 

 

 

 

Resource Optimization

  • Drive productivity in operations in-order to optimize the cost and Head count.
  • Implement inventory control strategies to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.
  • Initiating cost reduction projects such as down time reduction, Resetting loss reduction, manpower optimization projects, Safety compliance projects, material consumption optimization projects

 

Quality Management

  • Adhere to quality control measures to ensure that product meet all relevant specifications and quality standards.

 

Reports

  • Ensure real time data capture / Data Integrity
  • Prepare and present regular production reports to senior management, including key performance indicators, production trends, scrap, quality issues and areas of improvement.

 

General Administration - Shop Floor

  • Risk assessment activities & SWOT analysis
  • Attending Cross functional meeting.
  • Review of shop floor L1 activities, conducting L2, L3 meeting along with other CFT members
  • Layered process audits in the shop floor.
  • Initiate disciplinary actions towards sabotage of safety & quality systems in the shop floor.
  • Resolve Conflict with inter department as well as with Employees.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders for seamless execution of manufacturing plans to meet customer timelines for delivery with right quality and quantity.
  • Facilitate discussions with the Union and workmen as and when required; set up committees/ teams to address any employee grievance.

 

 

Person Specification

 

Technical/Professional Skills, Expertise and Qualifications

 

Knowledge/Skills

  • Overall 12 and above years of experience in Manufacturing
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Solid understanding of quality control principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Presentation skills
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of ISO or other quality management systems.
  • Computer – MS office strong hold on MS Excel

 

 

 

 

Education

 

  • BE or Equivalent, in Mech/Industrial Production/Rubber Technology/Injection molding.
