JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Quality Engineer - PPAP
Reports To: Factory Quality Manager
Role Type: Individual Contributor role
Location: Mysore
Purpose of the role
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of products manufactured at Seals Manufacturing. This includes developing and implementing quality processes, conducting audits and inspections, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. The role requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and coordination between various departments, including production, procurement, and design, to enhance product quality and meet business objectives & Quality KPIs.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor production processes in real-time to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, variations, and areas for improvement.
- Identify quality-related issues during the manufacturing process and work with teams to resolve them.
- Employ root cause analysis techniques to determine the underlying causes of defects.
- Prepare reports on quality metrics, non-conformances, and corrective actions for management review.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality control procedures and best practices.
- Support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality policies.
- Participate in audits and inspections conducted by external parties.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency.
- Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement tools.
- Implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence of quality issues.
- Address customer complaints related to product quality and work on corrective actions.
- Prepare and compile all necessary documentation required for the PPAP submission, including design records, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
- Ensure that documentation meets customer requirements and industry standards.
- Stay informed about customer-specific requirements for PPAP submissions and ensure compliance.
- Address customer feedback and incorporate it into future PPAP submissions.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits related to PPAP processes and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949 for automotive) and regulatory requirements.
Skills And Knowledge Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in the industry
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as Rubber Injection & Compression Molding , Phosphating and Knowledge about the Rubber compound Mixing process, quality control methodologies, and relevant standards (e.g., ISO9001:2015, IATF16949:2016,AAR etc ) with certified Internal auditor
- Understanding of PPAP requirements, quality engineering principles, and relevant industry standards
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and proficiency in data analysis tools.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot defects and inconsistencies in processes and products.
- Project Management: Capability to lead quality improvement projects and initiatives.

- Engineering in any stream.
