JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Supply Chain Head
Reports To: Factory Manager
Role Type: People Manager role
Location: Mysore
Purpose of the role
The Supply Chain Head is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire supply chain operations within Seals Manufacturing. This includes production planning and control, raw material procurement, and logistics management to ensure efficient, cost-effective, Quality and timely manufacturing operations. This role requires strong coordination between various departments, including production, procurement, warehousing, and logistics, to enhance operational efficiency and meet business objectives & SCM KPIS. Embrace SKF initiatives like SKF Production System and EHS while doing every activity in the Factory
Job Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Develop and implement production schedules based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and resource availability.
- Monitor production performance and adjust schedules to meet customer demands and minimize bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Implement lean manufacturing, SKF Production system and continuous improvement strategies to enhance efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of production data, MIS, including work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods inventory.
- Daily Review/analysis/action plan on Loss in OEE & Delivery value along with the production and CFT
- Develop roadmap to achieve business plan targets by reviewing the operation on a periodic basis.
Raw Material Procurement
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components like Polymer, Chemicals, Metal components etc.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings and quality improvements, both domestic & imports.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual terms, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking while managing working capital efficiently.
- Work closely with the Purchase team to manage procurement budgets and cost optimization.
Logistics & Supply chain operations
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of raw materials and finished goods.
- Optimize warehouse operations, including storage, material handling, and distribution.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers and transporters for smooth supply chain operations.
- Implement technology-driven solutions for tracking and managing inventory, shipments, and logistics.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including customs clearance, import/export policies, and safety standards.
Compliance & Safety
- Compliance with SKF code of conduct, ethics, policies & statuary & legal requirements & compliance to Environmental, health & Safety standards in Operations
- Demonstrate & Compliance to Quality Management systems such as ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, AAR standards & Customer specific requirements in Supply chain operations
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies within the production area.
Lean Management
- Drive Lean principles in manufacturing to achieve Zero Accident, Zero Defect and Delivery in-lined with customer demand efficiently.
- Improve the OEE by reducing losses and creating culture of continuous improvement.
- Review of L1 meeting, conducting L2, meeting along with other CFT members
People Management
- Capability building, Upskilling / Reskilling, Training plan in SCM function
- Ensure right staffing in all areas & create the right atmosphere for the team by mentoring, coaching & empowering them.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders with seamless execution of production plans to meet customer timelines for delivery with the right quality and quantity.
- Facilitate discussions with the Union and workmen as and when required; set up committees/ teams to address any employee grievance.
- Lead and mentor a team SCM function, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement among SCM teams.
- Nominate employee’s motivation awards wrt quality, productivity sustainable improvement projects & other cultural change initiatives
- Talent Review & Performance appraisals of team.
Quality Management
- Adhere to QMS in supply chain as per ISO 16949 & ISO 9001
- Risk assessment activities & SWOT analysis
- Manage Customer Audits, Internal Audits, System Audits.
Reports
- Ensure real time data capture / Data Integrity
- Prepare and present regular supply chain reports to senior management, including key performance indicators, Analysis, quality issues and areas of improvement.

Skills And Knowledge Requirements:
- 15 years of experience in the industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Solid understanding in supply chain management, ERP systems, XA, OMPS, MIS, Lean manufacturing within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, negotiation & problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Presentation skills
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification (Preferred)
- Knowledge of ISO / TS16949 quality management systems.
- Excellent proficiency in MS office strong hold on MS Excel

- Bachelor’s/master’s degree in supply chain management / engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
