Product Development and Engineering has the global Product Development and Engineering responsibility for bearings and units. As part of the SKF Innovation & Business Development, Product Development and Engineering plays a decisive role in defining the right offers for the SKF Product value propositions. Product Development and Engineering translates market trends and customer needs into new, long term and sustainable solutions, by defining, developing and maintaining the product technical data and ensuring the up to date product technical knowledge is used to bring value to SKF customers and employees.

 

The Product Development team for Thin Section and Slewing Bearings is responsible to develop products and solutions, to bring them into the market, working in close cooperation with Product Management, Industries, Manufacturing and Sales.

 

The team is also responsible to review, maintain and further develop product theory, design rules and technical knowledge, acting as the most qualified technical experts within and outside the company.

 

Your day-to-day work

  • Capture market and industry needs by working closely together with customers, Sales, Product Management, Industries and Manufacturing
  • Drive and manage development projects and introduce new products and solutions to the market, in close cooperation with Product Management, Manufacturing and Sales
  • Develop product theory, build product competence,document, maintain and spread this
  • Develop, document, maintain and share internally design rules on pertinent products
  • Work close together with Process Development and Bearing Operations, to optimize the design for manufacturing and design for cost
  • Perform product verifications and validations, in cooperation with the Global Testing organization
  • Ensure products specifications fulfilling SKF quality and performance demands
  • Ensure that products specifications fulfilling customers and application demands
  • Ensuring design rules are robust against internal capability and external variation
  • Travelling is expected both nationally and internationally (the first year up to 40%, up to 20% on normal basis)

 

We expect you to have
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years’ experience in product development, project engineering or similar R&D environment. Master degree level is considered a plus.

  • Large experience and proven track record in Project management
  • Solid business understanding with a genuine “outside-in” mind
  • Experienced in product development and analytical engineering tasks, such as product functions behavior in relation to tolerance setting, mathematical and statistical evaluation
  • Knowledge in computer based engineering tools and simulations, including FEM and dynamic simulation
  • Previous exposure / experience with noise and vibration, both theoretically and experimentally is considered a plus
  • Experience and knowledge in machine component testing as well as bearing application technology will be considered a plus
  • Good facilitation and communication skills with fluency in English
