About the Role
We are looking for a Chief Accountant to lead end‑to‑end accounting for our Puebla operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strong financial control in a global environment. This role oversees general accounting, statutory and tax compliance, month‑end close, internal controls (SOX), audits, and partners with business leaders to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Close
- Own the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close (R2R) ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements under IFRS and local GAAP (NIFs).
- Review and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepayments, intercompany and eliminations.
- Oversee balance sheet integrity: reconciliations, aging, open items, and corrective actions.
Tax, Compliance & Statutory
- Ensure on‑time and accurate tax compliance (ISR/IVA/IEPS, DIOT, retentions) and statutory filings; coordination with external advisors when needed.
- Guarantee CFDI 4.0 timeliness/accuracy (AR/AP) and alignment with SAT requirements.
- Maintain robust internal controls and SOX narratives/testing, including risk assessments and remediation plans.
Costing, Inventory & Fixed Assets
- Oversee cost accounting and inventory valuation (standard cost updates, variances, cycle counts, and adjustments).
- Manage fixed assets lifecycle: capitalization, depreciation, disposals, CIP tracking.
Cash, AR/AP & Intercompany
- Partner with O2C/P2P leads to secure cash application quality, DSO improvement, dispute resolution and supplier payment accuracy.
- Manage intercompany reconciliations, netting, transfer pricing documentation (in coordination with Tax/Treasury).
Audits & Governance
- Lead external and internal audits, ensuring timely PBC lists, sampling support, and closure of audit findings.
- Maintain updated accounting policies, desktop procedures, and RACI.
Business Partnering & Improvement
- Provide financial insight to Plant/Operations/Procurement on margins, cost drivers, variances, and savings.
- Drive process standardization and automation (SAP/ERP, reporting, controls) and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/Contador Público preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; 3+ years in a lead/supervisory role.
- Solid knowledge of IFRS and Mexican GAAP (NIFs); strong tax know‑how in Mexico.
- Experience with ERP (SAP preferred), advanced Excel/Power BI a plus.
- Proven track record in month‑end close, audits, internal controls (SOX), cost accounting, and intercompany.
- English: Intermediate–Advanced (global coordination and reporting).
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, problem‑solving, and deadline discipline.
Key Success Metrics (KPIs)
- Close completed on time with zero material misstatements.
- Balance sheet reconciliations: 100% on time; aging of open items within target.
- Tax filings: 100% timely and accurate; audit findings closed as planned.
- Inventory & costing: variance within thresholds; successful cycle count results.
- DSO/AP on-time payment support aligned to targets.
- Control health: SOX tests passed, remediations delivered on time.
