Global Category Manager for Vehicle Aftermarket Business Unit Purchasing 


We are looking for a diverse and strategic individual to join our team as a Global Category Manager within the Vehicle Aftermarket (VA) Business Unit Purchasing. This role is crucial in defining purchasing strategy and providing external spend of components and kits, ensuring a credible, cost-competitive, and fast supply for the SKF Independent Aftermarket distribution segments worldwide.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the strategy for the assigned categories according to the VA strategy, continuously exploring new ways to enhance our purchasing processes.
  • Negotiate and sign contract agreements with suppliers to secure the best Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the unit, changing the status quo.
  • Analyze spend data to effectively follow up on cost evolution and secure delivery of planned results in terms of savings and TCO, managing resources efficiently.
  • Autonomously drive and review annual price negotiations within the supplier category responsibility, ensuring collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Drive sourcing projects, including new supplier scouting and the new supplier introduction process.
  • Efficiently handle the aspects of Supplier Relationship Management, focusing on activities like supplier appraisal and advancement with respect to Quality, Innovation, Service, and Sustainability.
  • Monitor and handle quality and capacity matters diligently, ensuring timely and suitable interventions for any difficulties encountered.
  • Work in close collaboration with Product Line management and other VA functions (e.g., Demand Chain, Quality) to improve organizational growth.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A degree in Engineering or Business Management
  • Proven work experience in Purchasing, especially on a global scale, showcasing collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Good commercial experience and contract negotiation skills, with the courage to secure the best deals and challenge the status quo together with the ability to create a comprehensive network across the organization (factories, logistics, and suppliers).
  • Business acumen and strong analytical skills, reflecting a care for making informed and strategic decisions.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and databases, with previous experience in business intelligence data analysis, motivated by curiosity to leverage data for insights.
  • Ability to work with enthusiasm  and energy, taking the initiative to challenge the status quo.
  • Fluency in English, ensuring effective collaboration and communication across the organization.
  • Willingness to travel, demonstrating commitment to building good relationships with suppliers and stakeholders globally.
