Position Summary

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with customers across a wide range of industries, helping them improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and solve complex operational challenges. From troubleshooting critical equipment issues to supporting major reliability improvement initiatives, no two days are the same.

As an Application Engineer with SKF, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, working closely with customers, sales teams, and reliability professionals.

This position is home-based, with travel to customer locations across Saskatchewan and Manitoba (approximately 50% of the time), covering some of Canada's most important industrial operations, including mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and food processing. Occasional travel outside of these provinces may also be required.  The successful candidate must reside in Saskatchewan.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in the areas of product selection, application review, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, quality, and root cause failure analysis.
  • Conduct customer site visits to investigate equipment issues, perform inspections, support installations, and identify opportunities for reliability improvement.
  • Establish strong technical relationships with customers, positioning SKF as the preferred partner for reliability and rotating equipment solutions.
  • Identify and develop innovative, high-value solutions that address customer challenges, improve operational performance, and create measurable value.
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for customers and internal personnel.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams, including customer service, sales and reliability, to achieve the company’s goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGS, or eligibility to obtain registration within a reasonable period of employment.
  • 3 years experience in engineering, reliability, maintenance, rotating equipment, technical sales support, or industrial applications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Proven track record of proactive continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, solve complex technical problems, and create value for customers.

50% travel required
