Senior Expert – Packaging & Preservation  

System, Product Architecture & Expertise is a newly formed team within SKF's Product Development & Engineering EMEA. The team aims to strengthen technical competence in key technology areas, enabling support and fast response for business-critical decisions, as well as strategic planning and input for future technology development topics.

One identified area is Packaging and Preservation for our bearing products, and we are looking for a Senior Expert to take the lead and to be accountable for this key technology.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will take the technical lead to design and validate new and improved existing bearing packaging and preservatives and support implementation. You will work closely together with product lines, design offices, and external suppliers/3rd parties on developing future, sustainable, and competitive packaging solutions. Furthermore, you will:  

• Make sure that packaging and preservative standards and specifications reflect business and international standardization needs, identify gaps, and propose how to close them. 
• Develop, validate, and maintain SKF group standards in bearing product packaging and preservatives.
• Act as a competence hub for packaging and preservatives, collaborate with a global SKF community, and educate and spread knowledge.
• Provide support to bearing operations for implementing packaging and preservative standards and technologies.
• Shape the packaging and preservatives technology roadmap and strategy, identify gaps, and provide proper input to RTD, Quality, and Factories.
• Sponsor research activities and support the implementation of new packaging and preservative technologies.
• Drive the sustainability strategy and activities for bearing packaging and preservatives.
• Manage the change portfolio and drive the ECM process for packaging and preservatives. 

Requirements  

• University degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent 
• Specialization/deep experience in packaging design, and knowledge in corrosion prevention is beneficial 
• Ability to work across the full value chain and a good knowledge of bearings products/components 
• Experience in managing activities, projects, and tasks in a complex business environment 
• Professional fluency in English, both in verbal and written communication 
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly

Some additional information 

This position will be located either in Schweinfurt/Germany or in Gothenburg/Sweden. 

You will report to the Manager of System, Product Architecture & Expertise.
