Manager Transportation & Packaging EMEA

In this role, you lead internal teams and manage external freight forwarders and other partners, translating strategic direction and day-to-day needs into reliable execution that supports the business.

Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Distribution Management
-
Own the EMEA transportation budget and freight governance, ensuring cost control, accurate invoicing, and timely payments.

Lead end-to-end distribution across road (mainly), sea, air, and special transports, developing concepts (incl. IT integration) and continuously optimizing the network with stakeholders.

Re-conceptualize the network in alignment with the strategic supply chain principles and deploy solutions
Packaging Framework

Own and standardize the EMEA packaging framework to secure the supply of one-way and returnable empty packaging for factories and suppliers, including procurement governance.

Drive performance and compliance by improving flows and suppliers, setting up refurbishment/repair/cleaning for returnable, and ensuring legal/EHS and customer-specific requirement alignment with global packaging.
Team Leadership & Development

Lead, coach, and develop the regional transportation organization, building capability, role clarity, and succession.

Build an inclusive, high-performance culture through visible leadership, accountability, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Own performance management, including feedback, evaluations, and fair, performance-based compensation.

Sponsor and deliver transformation by translating the EMEA logistics roadmap into priorities, governance, and measurable outcomes, and driving adoption through structured change management.
Provider & Stakeholder Management

Select and manage logistics service providers with Purchasing, incl. standards, governance, and contract lifecycle support.

Act as the operational interface between internal stakeholders (Sales, factories, Control Tower) and providers to deliver customer-focused logistics solutions.

Standardize transportation cost charging and allocation processes across EMEA.
Performance & Optimization

Own transport performance management, define, monitor, and act on KPIs to drive service, cost, and utilization improvements.

Drive continuous improvement and network optimization through KPI-driven initiatives, root-cause actions, and cross-site standardization across EMEA.
We expect you to have
-
Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
-
Extensive logistics experience with a strong focus on transportation and packaging, preferably in an international setting.

Proven leadership experience in managing cross-border teams.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
-
Solid understanding of major transport modes and distribution strategies.
-
Proficiency in logistics systems (e.g., SAP TM) and performance measurement tools.
-
Fluency in English; French is a strong plus, and additional languages are welcome.

Willingness to travel as needed across the EMEA region.

Some additional information
This position is located at any of SKF Automotive's main sites in EMEA:
Saint Cyr (France)
Schweinfurt (Germany)
Tongeren (Belgium)
We offer a flexible hybrid working model, allowing you to work from home a few days per week while spending the remaining days at the office. As employment is offered on a local contract, you must live within commuting distance of the relevant SKF Automotive site and be able to be on-site several days per week.
For this position, we are exclusively considering candidates who are already based in one of the listed locations. Please note that relocation, work permits, or visa sponsorship are not approved for this role, and we are therefore looking for candidates who are citizens or legally resident in the respective country.
You will report to Andreas Wartha, Head of Logistics EMEA, located in Schweinfurt, Germany.
