Electrical Project Engineer, Lubrication Management North America – St. Louis, MO

 

Location:  St. Louis, MO

Reports to:  Manager Product Development Product Engineering

 

Role and responsibility:

The role of this position is to support the Product Development and Product Engineering efforts of the SKF Lubrication Management located in St Louis, Missouri. SKF LM develops and maintains a wide range of embedded sensors and control systems for the industrial market.  This position will support the embedded control products by maintaining existing systems and working with design teams both internal and external to create new systems.

 

The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for:

  • Develop product specifications from customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot legacy hardware and sensor issues
  • Define new mechanical/electrical systems, measurement techniques and interfaces
  • Communicate with; component level circuit design, PCB layout, embedded software/firmware teams for industrial embedded control systems
  • Confers with engineers, internal customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects
  • Assists in planning and implementing research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects
  • Assists with design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems
  • Drafts and reviews written work plans/functional tests
  • Works with testing lab to refine prototype designs, setup PLC controlled test fixtures
  • Computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Creates electrical drawings, reports and calculations to support the engineering solutions for electrical systems
  • Performs troubleshooting and provides technical support to customer service department
  • Attends project scoping meetings and design reviews, recommending changes to specifications based on technical and operational issues
  • Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles/practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
  • Assists with on-site field testing and commissioning of products
  • Works with mechanical engineers on new motor driven electro-mechanical product development projects
  • Ability to travel (Occasional international travel required) <5%

 

Competences and requirements

Mandatory:

  • 10 years minimum of working experience and knowledge with engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to integrating electrical and mechanical systems.
  • 5 years minimum experience running internal and external design teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in the fields of Electrical, Mechatronics or Mechanical with a strong EE background or vice versa.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical motors, sensors, and switches.
  • Ability to work with circuit board designers, suppliers, and software teams.
  • Ability to perform duties to highest level without constant supervision in a team environment

 

Desired:

  • Experience using Design for Six Sigma methods
  • Working knowledge of designing to agency standards such as UL, CE & CSA
  • Experience with data collection instrumentation

 

General Requirements:

  • Skill in oral and written communication to effectively fulfill client/customer/team requirements; able to present and describe issues clearly and concisely
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking abilities are required
