Summary:

Perform scheduling as assigned.   Review customer orders and demand forecasts and develop production schedules for all areas.  Produce a realistic production schedule taking into consideration such factors as setup and run times, material and material sizes, schedule attainment needs, material availability, customer expectations and work center capacity.  Firm, cut and release, increase/decrease production orders daily. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate work orders in JDE using the order shortage report and other tools.
  • Analyze planning actions messages and reschedule manufactured parts by changing order due dates and start dates to the appropriate times.
  • Resolve shortage problems by expediting or, when necessary, making changes in the production plan.
  • React to unplanned shortages to ensure minimum disruptions to overall schedules and customer expectations.
  • The Planner will work up schedules and follow orders through the shop, working with other Planners and Supervisors.
  • Print and distribute work orders.
  • Provide additional support to Operations as necessary such as providing tool setup and gage requisitions, obtaining blueprints, and updating setup cards.
  • Assist supervision in other work.
  • Planners can also move small parts to meet production schedules and/or that require special attention.
  • Analyze reports, establish order lot sizes for assigned parts and production sequences for assigned work centers and communicate with Production Supervisors to balance the on-time delivery needs with production efficiency, level loads and minimum inventory.
  • Review backorder report to ensure timely delivery of back-ordered items.  Reschedule as necessary to ensure prompt delivery to customers.
  • Communicate with Customer Service and advise when production schedules will be missed so that promise dates can be rescheduled.
  • Schedule and expedite to achieve deliveries of components as required.
  • Planners, as well as others, are responsible for expediting manufactured and purchased parts as necessary.
  • Work on special projects as assigned, such as capacity reports, new product developments in the production system, inventory levels, master schedule maintenance and report distribution.
  • Maintain MRP System parameters such as planning lead times, demand codes, etc.
  • Review annual usage quantities and ABC classifications of component parts to maintain correct order policy.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED. 
  • Be able to operate a PC in a Windows environment, including Excel spreadsheet. 
  • Must be able to utilize additional equipment, such as label printers and scanners, as necessary. 
  • Good communication, time management, planning, math, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Must be familiar with shop and production processes.  Must be well organized and able to prioritize their work. Keep work area clean and orderly.  Additional training on any new systems will be provided.
