Product Development Engineer (m/f/d)

 

As a key member of our Product Development team, you’ll collaborate with a driven and agile group, interfacing with SKF’s global factories, Sales & Application Engineering, Research and Technology Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing departments. Your role will be pivotal in steering the engineering efforts for ACBB, ThBB, Hybrid, MSP products, ensuring synergy with stakeholders throughout SKF’s comprehensive network, and significantly contributing to the success and expansion of our product lines.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Manage product portfolio by defining the product & technology roadmap, and tailoring application-specific offerings in sync with product line and sales teams
  • Lead engineering projects aligned with our strategic vision, enhancing current bearing designs, and innovating design variations
  • Ensure precision in technical product data within databases and manufacturing workflows
  • Develop, codify, and uphold technical specifications/drawings and design rules
  • Maintain SKF’s industry leadership by initiating and supporting technology development in partnership with Research Technology & Development and conducting strategic competitor analysis
  • Champion cost-efficiency initiatives in collaboration with factory and product line strategies
  • Protect SKF’s Intellectual Assets and Intellectual Property through diligent product patent portfolio management

 

 

Your profile:

 

  • A holder of a university degree in mechanical engineering or product development
  • Proficient in machine element/rolling bearing design, kinematics, and technical drawing conventions
  • A well-organized, self-driven individual with a strong commitment to excellence
  • A proactive, open-minded collaborator who can drive change and inspire others
  • An effective communicator with excellent facilitation skills, fluent in English and German, capable of leading in a diverse international setting
  • Experience with ceramics and ceramic bearings is a valuable asset
  • Familiarity with Office 365, Windchill, CREO Parametric, ANSYS is advantageous

This position will be located in Steyr, Austria (local contract).
