Factory Business Development Manager

 

 

Reports to:  Plant Manager

Location:   Sumter, SC

 

 

Factory Business Development is THE vital link between factories and sales/customers and should lead the way for more customer centric behavior throughout the factory.

 

The Factory Business Development is responsible for:

 

What

  • Driving the factory business opportunity management and the follow-up process
  • Handling the RFQ process and analyzing the gaps in our offering
  • Bringing the voice of the market & industry & customer as well as sales, into the factory, deploy service improvements for overall customer experience
  • Proactively support customers and sales (on-site and off-site) to grow existing business as well as top line
  • Sets the business strategy for the respective factory
  • Actively works together with Product Line, R&D and Cluster to implement and drive new strategies and offers
  • Acts as BD Factory representative and resource in strategic projects
  • Initiate and drive product cost roadmap and specific reduction projects
  • Supporting the factory investment strategy
  • Manage the factory assortment

 

How

  • Develop a strong and continuous network with sales and/or key customers; set the right base to sell products from the respective factory (e.g. trainings, customer visits, key customer business outlook, factory newsletters…).
  • Proactively communicate with customers and Sales in order to understand the real customer/market needs and trends and thereby develop new offers together with PL/R&D/Cluster that support the real needs/business opportunities.
  • Support sales in complex inquiries, special needs, technical clarifications, complaint handling, etc.
  • Analyze the existing and dormant industries the factory serves to help define and pursue new opportunities.
  • RFQ Management through the complete value chain incl. First series process and prototype handling.
  • Establish and maintain an effective follow-up system for key opportunities.
  • Business intelligence: collect trends from customers, competitors, industries & share with Factory Management/PLM/Cluster BD.
  • Target costing based on design to market and facilitate re-design approach through the complete value chain in coordination with the PL.
  • Participate in NMOs/ETOs/ASOs and run work packages

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Background in engineering (machining, turning grinding, etc) or other equivalent engineering experience.
  • Self-motivated, driven and adaptable.
  • Positive Can-do attitude.
  • Ability to analyze data and make fact-based decisions.
  • Able to multi-task and effectively, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detailed understanding of efficiencies, uptime, capacity planning and yield.
  • Sales attitude and customer oriented.
  • Ability to influence and work in team.
