Customs Specialist
As a Customs Specialist, you play an important role in strengthening our Belgian team. As a member of our team, you ensure a smooth, correct, and compliant flow of goods across the border. You manage customs documentation, monitor laws and regulations, and support internal and external stakeholders in export and import processes. With your knowledge and experience, risks are minimized and our trade flows remain optimal and compliant.
In your role, you also collaborate with a larger EU & Africa customs team and have contact with colleagues throughout SKF.
Your key responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with international trade and customs regulations (Union Customs Code, EU legislation, and sanction regimes)
- Checking and following up on customs documents (import, export, T1, ATR certificates, EUR1 certificates, Certificates of Origin, etc.)
- Working with the internal POC (Preferential Origin Compliance) system; managing origin declarations and ensuring monthly updates in our customs software
- Customs warehouse and other customs-related administration
- Advising internal teams on customs procedures; supporting the preparation of customs declarations, reports, and the use of customs software
- Maintaining contacts with customs authorities, logistics partners, and customers
- Supporting audits, AEO compliance, and internal controls
- Optimizing processes to increase efficiency and compliance
- Prepare and maintain work instructions
What do you bring?
- An education in Logistics, International Trade, Supply Chain, Economics, or equivalent through experience
- Some years of relevant experience in customs, trade compliance, or international logistics and knowledge of customs regulations
- Up-to-date knowledge of customs procedures, Union Customs Code, and relevant EU legislation
- Experience with customs systems (IDMS, AES, and NCTS)
- Knowledge of FTAs, preferential and non-preferential rules of origin
- Experience with AEO certification; experience with sanctions legislation is a plus
- Proficient in communication, with the ability to switch smoothly between Dutch and English.
- Accurate and digitally capable: you perform tasks methodically, keep information tidy, and are proficient in MS Office. Experience with customs tools such as Stream Software is a plus.

This position will be located in SKF Logistics Services Belgium NV – Tongeren-Borgloon. Local contract.
