Transport Coordinator - SKF Logistics Services

As a Transport Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing national and international transport flows by road, sea, and air. You will ensure that shipments are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with agreed service levels. You will have the authority to make transport-related decisions that lead to optimal transportation solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor transport plans for road, ocean, and air freight flows
  • Coordinate transport capacity based on shipment volumes, operational planning, and customer requirements
  • Act as the key point of contact between carriers, warehouses, customer service teams, international SKF locations, and other internal stakeholders
  • Take action to resolve transport and capacity issues and propose alternative transport solutions
  • Manage transport-related administration and communication
  • Analyze performance through KPIs such as on-time arrivals/departures and fill rates
  • Handle claims, transport incidents, and quality-related cases
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations, with a particular focus on dangerous goods transportation
  • Maintain and optimize transport data and flows within SAP TM/EM and WASS
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to sustainable transport solutions, including CO₂ reporting

 

 

Key requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics / Supply Chain or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of logistics and transport processes
  • Understanding of the transport market and relevant transport legislation
  • Good knowledge of PC applications and systems (SAP TM)
  • Solid analytical skills and a practical, solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work with shifting priorities and the ability to prioritize in an evolving environment
  • Effective communication & collaboration skills
  • Good command of English; knowledge of French and/or German is meritorious
  • Proficiency in Dutch, both written and spoken
  • Able to manage pressure well and make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations

Some additional information 

This position is based in Tongeren, Belgium, at a major SKF site. Local contract.

The roles operate in a two-shift system (early shift: 6:00 – 14:00 and late shift 12:00 – 20:00)
