Finish Lap Operator - Ceramic   


Location: Winsted, Ct  

Reports to: Manufacturing Process Improvement Manager

  • Process product to specifications, including cleaning & weigh/count, and to schedules provided. 

  • Load/unload & operate lap machines and perform adjustments. 

  • Maintain oil levels, cut rates, pressures and feeds& speeds. 

  • Pump tanks and change lap slurries. 

  • Perform in-process inspections, including ball checks and other dimensional measurements. 

  • Report processing information clearly and accurately on routers and process log sheets 

  • Perform assigned repairs and Preventive Maintenance 

  • Assure applicable inspection equipment is in calibration before use. 

  • Plot results on control charts when required. 

  • Maintain items in Tooling Control Program 

  • Maintain cleaning media and equipment. 

  • Identify and segregate and initiate Discrepancy Reports for nonconforming product. 

  • Contact supervision immediately to report equipment problems. 

  • Assure lot traceability. 

  • Read new and revised specifications when mandated. 



  • Varied postures – sitting, standing, leaning forward, turning side to side. 

  • Transports product from one area to another 

  • Use of Hand Carts – pushing 

  • Use of Hoist - pulling 

  • Sitting, walking, pushing, carrying, or lifting up to max. 50 lbs occasionally 

  • Standing generally 


OTHER REQUIREMENTS: (but not all inclusive) 

  • Work in a safe manner at all times, alerting management of hazardous conditions.  

  • Assure satisfactory levels of cleanliness and housekeeping in all assigned areas. 

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written and verbal, and organizational skills.  

  • Assure Confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive information.
