Summary of Position:

A Process driven, Quality Engineer professional with good skills in problem solving, project management, data analysis, supplier development, change management, auditing and excellent attention to detail.  Works as an individual contributor and collaboratively to achieve objectives with an emphasis on removing waste and variability from processes. This individual, assists suppliers in improving the quality and delivery ratings and establishes a culture of continuous improvement.  They will act as a resource throughout the company on quality assurance issues and provide training on quality related subjects throughout the organization.  Strong communication skills are necessary to assist in customer satisfaction efforts when supporting customer audits and inquiries.



Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Responsible for developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards and records for processing materials while supporting aerospace customer requirements
  • Lead the development of action plans to improve performance and ensure achievement of SKF KPIs
  • Defines and maintains sampling and action plans for incoming materials and SKF production runs based on quality performance
  • Develop and implement equipment and/or process qualification protocols internally and at supplier
  • Collect/Compile data and drive continuous improvement initiatives in reaction to escapes, trends, and in support of reduced cost and lead-time through utilization of PPAPs, APQP, Lean Six Sigma tools, 8D methodologies, and 5S as they relate to supplier and internal manufacturing
  • Perform statistical analysis, monitor supplier and SKF quality performance
  • Conduct machine qualification
  • Lead and participate in root cause investigation, and corrective/preventive action solutions as needed using Lean Six Sigma tools applied in an 8D framework
  • Manage correlation and capability studies
  • assist with the development of PFMEA’s, Control Plans, MSA, DoE, FAIRs, SPC, and PPAPs
  • Perform internal ISO, process and product audits
  • drive continuous improvement in manufacturing performance
  • Manage site metrology program
  • Work in a safe manner always, alerting management of hazardous conditions. Assure satisfactory levels of cleanliness and housekeeping in all assigned areas.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering degree required or in another applicable field with appropriate experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher; or demonstrated application of statistical concepts (e.g. Reliability Engineering or Six Sigma tool application)
  • Quality Assurance Certification (CQE, CQA, CQM)
  • Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • In-depth understanding of quality concepts and principle
  • Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Minitab
  • Knowledge of AS9100
  • 5 years of experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing field, including quality improvement tools, quality auditing, root cause analysis


Key Technical Requirements and Expectations:

  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards (aerospace, automotive or medical industries)
  • Working Knowledge of Quality/Reliability tools (FMEA, SPC, Pareto, GR&R, DOE, Statistical Analysis, Std. Deviations, Regression, etc.)
  • Review technical requirements for flow down of customer specifications to SKF manufacturing and suppliers of critical raw materials
  • Maintains, analyzes, and reports Key Performance Indicators and Cost of Quality data to identify recurring trends and drive improvement actions
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and organizational skills. Assure confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive information.
  • Provide training and support on new quality initiatives
  • Understanding of AS9100 and Nadcap Compliance
