As an Application Engineer, you will be the technical ambassador of this legacy in Mexico. Your mission is to help customers achieve cleaner, longer-lasting, safer operations through SKF’s advanced sealing systems—solutions that reduce friction, prevent leakage, extend equipment life, and contribute to sustainability across industries.

You’ll be the bridge between customers, engineering excellence, and SKF’s global knowledge network—turning complex applications into breakthrough opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Growth

Promote SKF Seals solutions together with Sales and Business Development teams, driving new opportunities, accelerating pipeline growth, and strengthening long‑term relationships with distributors, OEMs, and end users.

Conduct regular customer visits to deeply understand applications, evaluate operating conditions, identify potential risks, and proactively recommend performance‑enhancing sealing solutions.

Act as a trusted technical advisor, influencing customer decisions through expert insight, data‑driven recommendations, and application‑based value propositions.

Technical Leadership

Serve as the primary Application Engineering expert for assigned product families (CR Seals, heavy industrial seals, machined seals, fluid power), ensuring the most appropriate solution is selected for each application.

Lead detailed application reviews and technical assessments including material selection, environmental analysis, dynamic system behavior, load considerations, contamination exposure, and installation constraints.

Conduct advanced failure analysis, generate structured technical reports, and present findings and long‑term corrective actions to internal stakeholders and customers.

Provide onsite and remote installation support, ensuring correct mounting, alignment, lubrication compatibility, and sealing performance validation.

Market & Strategy Development

Support the definition and execution of product strategy, product roadmaps, and sales initiatives by providing direct feedback from the field.

Map and profile target industries, applications, and key accounts to prioritize high‑value opportunities aligned with SKF’s global and regional strategy.

Monitor competitor technologies, market trends, and customer requirements to identify gaps, risks, and areas where SKF Seals can expand or strengthen its market position.

Contribute to business cases for new product development, cost‑out initiatives, and customer‑driven customization programs.

Training & Representation

Develop, lead, and continuously improve technical trainings, Tech Days, seminars, and workshops for distributors, customers, and internal commercial teams.

Support SKF’s presence at industry conferences, trade shows, technical events, and customer engineering forums—reinforcing SKF Seals’ leadership in sealing technologies.

Build technical content for presentations, product demonstrations, white papers, and customer‑specific technical documents.

Cross‑functional Collaboration

Work in close collaboration with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Quality, Operations, and global Application Engineering teams to share best practices and align on regional and global priorities.

Provide technical insights and structured feedback to Manufacturing and Product Development teams to support design improvements, quality initiatives, cost optimization, and product enhancement projects.

Collaborate with Marketing to refine product positioning, technical literature, application notes, and customer‑facing materials.

Operational Excellence & Internal Leadership

Ensure consistent use of CRM tools, documenting opportunities, technical findings, customer interactions, and project progress.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying internal process gaps, proposing corrective actions, and supporting digital tools and engineering resources.

Maintain a high level of technical competency through ongoing training, certification programs, and engagement with SKF’s global knowledge network.

Represent SKF’s values and technical excellence in all customer and internal interactions, acting as a senior technical ambassador for the SKF Seals business.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in application engineering, product development, or maintenance engineering.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and strategic mindset.
• Experience with CRM tools and proven time/resource management.
• Exceptional communication skills and a strong “active selling” mentality.
• Ability to travel for customer visits and collaboration with SKF sites.
