Production Supervisor (SKF Zapopan)
Position Title: Production Supervisor
Department: Operations / Manufacturing
Location: SKF Zapopan
Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Manager
Position Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily manufacturing operations to ensure safety, product quality, production efficiency, and compliance with SKF standards. This role oversees production teams, monitors KPIs, ensures adherence to processes, and drives continuous improvement initiatives within the production area at SKF Zapopan.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Supervise daily production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery targets.
- Coordinate staffing, work assignments, and shift planning based on production requirements.
- Monitor production lines, equipment performance, and workflow to ensure operational continuity.
- Ensure correct usage of materials, tools, and resources according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
People Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop production operators and team leaders.
- Conduct shift briefings, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Address conflicts, attendance issues, and disciplinary cases following company policies.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all products and processes comply with SKF quality standards and customer specifications.
- Support root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for deviations or scrap events.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct audits and maintain accurate documentation for traceability.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive initiatives related to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and OEE improvement.
- Identify opportunities to optimize cycle times, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality to support process improvements and equipment upgrades.
Reporting & KPIs
- Monitor and report production KPIs such as efficiency, OEE, scrap, downtime, and safety indicators.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, incidents, and operational data.
- Prepare shift reports and communicate relevant updates to management.
Safety & Workplace Environment
- Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety guidelines and PPE usage.
- Conduct safety talks, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Promote a strong safety culture aligned with SKF global standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
- Technical degree with relevant experience may be considered.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in a Supervisor or Team Leader role in manufacturing.
- Experience in automotive, metal-mechanic, or industrial production environments is an advantage.
- Familiarity with high-volume production, lean tools, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and root-cause analysis tools.
- Experience with Lean, 5S, TPM, or Six Sigma is a plus.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and production reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of quality systems and safety regulations.
